A concise guide (a so-called white paper) aimed at manufacturers in the cosmetics industry, containing operational instructions for the design of easily recyclable cosmetic product packaging. This will be our calling card at Cosmoprof next March 21-24, the Bolognese trade fair, an international reference point for the cosmetics supply chains.

The white paper, developed in collaboration with Cosmetica Italia - the National Association of Cosmetic Companies, is titled "Plastic Packaging in the Cosmetic Sector - Guide for a More Circular Production." With a very practical and simple approach, it provides suggestions for each type of plastic container (PET, HDPE and PP, PE and PP) on how to design it to ensure maximum recyclability at the end of its life, consistent with the guidelines of Recyclass and SPICE (Sustainable Packaging Initiative for Cosmetics), European initiatives of plastic recyclers and the cosmetics industry. Also, thanks to the contribution of the Circular Economy Team of the Hera Group, recommendations are provided for designing each component of the packaging for each polymer: main body, closure system, container color, barrier layers, labeling, use of inks for decorations.

The objective of the white paper and the partnership between Aliplast and Cosmetica Italia is to promote the spread of aesthetically appealing packaging capable of enhancing the product's functionalities while also reducing waste. While cosmetic product packaging has struggled in the past to balance aesthetic, commercial, and environmental considerations, today, circular economy principles guide much of the innovation in the beauty sector.

In addition to presenting the white paper, we will use the Bolognese event to showcase our commitment to sustainable innovation and the creation of circular solutions. Indeed, we are capable of transforming plastic waste into high-quality materials that can be used in a wide range of applications. Our products ensure significant performance in terms of transparency, gloss, resistance, and versatility, contributing to a more sustainable future. Their versatility makes them suitable for multiple uses, allowing cosmetic brands to integrate circular solutions into their products and adhere to increasingly stringent sustainability standards.

The approach to plastic recycling is not just a contribution to the ecological transition we all face but also taps into a new consumer awareness, increasingly willing to recognize the value (including economic) of an environmentally neutral product.

Our participation in the Cosmoprof fair will also be an opportunity to present the white paper "Plastic Packaging in the Cosmetic Sector," co-authored with Cosmetica Italia. This document is created to assist companies in the sector in designing fully recyclable plastic packaging, following the latest regulatory guidelines of the European Union. The White Paper will be presented on Friday, March 22, at 4:00 p.m. at the Cosmetica Italia lounge (Service Center, Block D - 1st floor).

"This white paper," explains Carlo Andriolo, CEO of Aliplast, "is an opportunity for the entire beauty industry, which is undergoing a strong evolution towards increasingly circular products and resource-consciousness. This isn't the first time Aliplast has provided its expertise to this strategic 'Made in Italy' market. For some time now, Aliplast has been collaborating with cosmetic sector entities to develop innovative packaging solutions using recycled plastic, also thanks to the Aliplast Lab, where we co-design products with our clients that are aesthetically and technically comparable to virgin materials."

Carlo Andriolo will also be a key speaker on a panel titled: "Resource Revolution: Inventing a Circular Supply Chain," taking place on March 22 at 2:30 p.m., where companies from around the world will gather for a debate on transitioning from a linear economy. Deanna Utroske, one of the most respected voices in the cosmetics and personal care sector, who works in the beauty industry as a speaker, journalist, and consultant to companies, will participate in the roundtable.
